Sir,
a Referring to my letter of the 25th ultimo (your reference 49465/1915) the facts relating to the Hong Kong &
Shanghai Bank have already been placed before me in a
memorandum received from the Treasury, and I replied on the 22nd October last to the effect that when arrangements which
were being made with the Colonial Office for the registration
of claims of persons resident or carrying on business throughout
the British Empire were in working order, the Bank would be in
a position to set out these claims in due form. No doubt
when the Bank in Hong Kong learns that the arrangements are
in operation I shall hear from them.
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office,
I am, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
In alle
and Public Trustee
Custodian for England & Wales.
